Instructional Aide (Saint Mary Star of the Sea Catholic School, Hampton)  
Description: Immediate opening for a full-time classroom Instructional Aide to support the instructional efforts of the classroom teacher. The ideal candidate will hold a high school diploma, have at least 2 years of experience in a classroom setting to provide supervision and support of instructional environment. The position requires excellent oral and written communications, attention to detail, the ability to work as part of team and provide exceptional customer service to students and families rooted in Catholic/Christian values. 

  • Responsibilities/Tasks:
    •  Aid students during whole class and small group instruction.
    • Assist the teacher in completing individual assessment of students.
    •Assists classroom teacher with daily preparations.
    • Assist the teacher with instructional materials and classroom organization.
    • Act as a substitute when the teacher is absent or in other grades when needed.
     
  • Qualifications
    • High school graduate or higher. 
    • 2 years of experience as an Instructional Aide in a classroom setting preferred.
    • Ability to stand/walk/stoop/bend while supervising and assisting students in daily activities both inside and outside the school building. 
    • Possess basic First Aid and CPR/AED certificate preferred; complete within 90 days of appointment.• Practicing Catholic in good standing desired

Start Date: remaining 2023-2024 School Year (beginning in October 2023)

Part Time Attendant After-School Care Program (Saint Mary Star of the Sea Catholic School, Hampton) 
Description: Immediate opening for a part time attendant of the “Beyond the Bell” After-School Care Program. The ideal candidate will hold a high school diploma, have at least 2 years of experience in child-care in order to provide supervision and support of our after-school program. The position requires excellent oral and written communications, attention to detail, the ability to work as part of team and provide exceptional customer service to students and families rooted in Catholic/Christian values.

Responsibilities/Tasks:
•  Assists after care supervisor with daily preparations. 
• Aid students during before or after care activities. 
• 'Assist with maintaining aftercare materials and classroom organization. 

Qualifications: 
• High school graduate or higher. 
• 2 years of experience as an After Care attendant in a school setting preferred. 
• Ability to stand/walk/stoop/bend while supervising and assisting students in daily activities both inside and outside the school building. 
• Possess basic First Aid and CPR/AED certificate preferred; complete within 90 days of appointment.

Part Time School Cafeteria Monitor (Saint Mary Star of the Sea Catholic School, Hampton)  
Description: The School Cafeteria Monitor is responsible for supporting an individual school food service operation in an organized and efficient manner under the direction of school cafeteria supervisor, while also meeting state and diocesan requirements. The candidate should possess experience with monitoring cafeteria/ dining area operations. Excellent oral and written communications, attention to detail, the ability to provide exceptional customer service to students, families, and staff rooted in Christian values.

Qualifications: 
• Must possess any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of high school; basic culinary/food/monitoring cafeteria                       operations experience preferred.  
• Experience and proficiency in food service functions to include safe food service/handling, sanitization functions in a school/small sized dining area                facility. 
• Knows when to seek professional advice and/or professional services.    
• Possess an understanding of own physical limitations, training/certification limitations, and able to assist in the support of cafeteria operations. 
• Must demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, customer service oriented. 
• Must be organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, and conscientious of surroundings. 
• Must be willing to comply with safety guidelines and protocols as prescribed by OSHA, the Commonwealth of Virginia, and/or Catholic Diocese of                    Richmond.

Preferred Skills and Experience: 
• Observes and promotes safe work practices and food handling procedures. 
• Follows guidelines in the monitoring, cleaning, and sanitization of cafeteria/dining area safety procedures. 
• Ensures the proper storage/disposal of food and/or supplies. 
• Performs job activities in a timely and efficient manner.
• Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to project staff, students, equipment, materials and facilities. 
• Adheres to food safety/handling/personal hygiene requirements.

School Custodian (Saint Mary Star of the Sea Catholic School, Hampton)  
Description:  Immediate opening for a custodian to join the SMSS facilities/custodial team. The ideal applicant must have a high school diploma or equivalent, at least 2 years custodial services experience in a school or similar setting, be highly dependable, organized, efficient, and thorough. He/she should be able to lift and move items weighing 50 pounds, be able to work independently or with a team, have sound working knowledge of general custodial/facilities maintenance, care of buildings, and equipment, and should be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professional communication with faculty/staff, students/families in a Christ-centered school environment. 

General Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Facilities Coordinator/ Custodian, the School Custodian will independently or as part of a team, cleans and maintains the school buildings and grounds, sets up equipment for special events, performs minor repair/ maintenance functions, and assists school personnel with work requests in a Christ-centered school environment.

Office Assitant/Receptionist  (Saint Mary Star of the Sea Catholic School, Hampton)  
Description:  Immediate opening for a part-time Office Assistant/Receptionist to support the administrative efforts in school main office. The ideal candidate will hold a high school diploma, have at least 2 years of experience in a main office environment to provide support for screening visitors, student late arrivals and early dismissals, attendance, and directing incoming phone calls. The position requires excellent oral and written communications, attention to detail, the ability to work as part of team and provide exceptional customer service to students and families rooted in Catholic/Christian values.

Responsibilities/Tasks:
• Assists with office functions on a daily basis. 
• Aid students during arrivals and/or dismissals. 
• Assist/screen visitors to the school. 
• Assist with recording/verifying attendance and office administrative tasks. 
• Answering or directing telephone and/or email communication as needed. 

Qualifications: 
• High school graduate or higher. 
• 2 years of experience as an Office Assistant/Receptionist in the main office setting preferred. 
• Ability to answer and direct incoming telephone calls.  
• Experience with technology platforms - Google, MS Suite, FACTS/SIS, and web applications for detailed searches or open source registry databases.   
• Ability to sit/stand/walk/stoop/bend while completing daily activities both inside and outside the school building.  
•Possess basic First Aid and CPR/AED certificate preferred; complete within 90 days of appointment.
