Part-Time Music Teacher (Saint Mary Star of the Sea Catholic School, Hampton) 
Description:  Saint Mary Star of the Sea Catholic School seeks an innovative, experienced, and collaborative Music Teacher for the 2024-2025 Academic year. Candidate should possess a desire to work in a Christ-centered school, where faith and reason work together, enjoy working with students from JK-8th Grade, effectively teach and engage students, and be committed to the mission of Catholic schools. The candidate must have experience in the relevant academic content in music and knowledge of liturgical documents and the Catholic Liturgy, selection of music and teaching music, choir, and proficient in piano and/or organ accompaniment. The candidate must be capable of working collaboratively with colleagues, have experience using 21st century technology tools, use student centered instructional strategies and a desire to help students understand the depth and beauty of God’s creation.

Qualifications:
•     Requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in an approved program endorsement in music
 •    Classroom experience minimum of 2 years preferred
 •    Computer literate and technologically proficient.
 •    Ability to communicate using electronic mail, telephone, and in person with parents and colleagues 
 •    Highly organized and motivated.
 •    Must be eligible for teacher licensure in Virginia.

Start Date: 2024-2025 School Year (beginning immediately)

Saint Mary Star of the Sea Catholic School (grades PreK-8) located in Hampton, Virginia, seeks an Elementary Teacher. 
Description:  The Elementary Teacher (K-5) is responsible for supporting student success by planning, preparing, and delivering lesson plans using instructional materials that facilitate active learning. The teacher will also develop schemes of work and assessments that align with the Consensus Curriculum and school expectations and instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment. Ability to guide student development and formation per the school’s mission and vision with compassion, understanding and respect.

Qualifications:
•     Bachelor's Degree and current Commonwealth of Virginia Teaching License. 
•    Possess a strong commitment to Catholic education.

Instructional Aide (Saint Mary Star of the Sea Catholic School, Hampton)  
Description: Saint Mary Star of the Sea Catholic School in Hampton, VA is currently seeking a full-time classroom Instructional Aide to support the instructional efforts of the classroom teacher. The ideal candidate will hold a high school diploma, have at least 2 years of experience in a classroom setting to provide supervision and support of instructional environment. The position requires excellent oral and written communications, attention to detail, the ability to work as part of team and provide exceptional support to students and families rooted in Catholic values. 

Responsibilities/Tasks:
• Assists classroom teacher with daily preparations.
• Aid students during whole class and small group instruction. 
• Assist the teacher in completing individual assessment of students. 
• Assist the teacher with instructional materials and classroom organization.
• Act as a substitute when the teacher is absent or in other grades when needed.
 

Qualifications
• High school graduate or higher. 
• 2 years of experience as an Instructional Aide in a classroom setting preferred.
• Ability to stand/walk/stoop/bend while supervising and assisting students in daily activities both inside and outside the school building. 
• Possess basic First Aid and CPR/AED certificate preferred; complete within 90 days of appointment.• Practicing Catholic in good standing desired

Start Date: 2024-2025 School Year (Beginning August 15, 2024)
Salary: hourly rate (35 hrs./week)

Part Time Aide Beyond the Bell Program (Saint Mary Star of the Sea Catholic School, Hampton) 
Description: Saint Mary Star of the Sea Catholic School in Hampton, VA is currently seeking a part time aide for “Beyond the Bell” After-School Care Program. The ideal candidate will hold a high school diploma, have at least 2 years of experience in child-care in order to provide supervision and support of our after-school program. The position requires excellent oral and written communications, attention to detail, the ability to work as part of team and provide exceptional customer service to students and families rooted in Catholic/Christian values.

Responsibilities/Tasks:
•  Assists after care supervisor with daily preparations. 
• Aid students during before or after care activities. 
• 'Assist with maintaining after care materials and classroom organization.

Qualifications: 
• High school graduate or higher. 
• 2 years of experience as an After Care attendant in a school setting preferred. 
• Ability to stand/walk/stoop/bend while supervising and assisting students in daily activities both inside and outside the school building. 
• Possess basic First Aid and CPR/AED certificate preferred; complete within 90 days of appointment.

Part-Time School Cafeteria Coordinator (Saint Mary Star of the Sea Catholic School, Hampton)  
Description: The School Cafeteria Coordinator is responsible for supporting an individual school food service operation in an organized and efficient manner, while also meeting state and diocesan food safety requirements. The candidate should possess experience with small to medium cafeteria/kitchen food handling preparation and operations, monitoring daily cafeteria/dining area operations. Excellent oral and written communications, attention to detail, the ability to provide exceptional customer service to students, families, and staff rooted in Catholic values.

Qualifications: 
• Must possess any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of high school; basic culinary/food handling certification preferred
• Cafeteria operations experience: 3 or more years preferred.
• Experience and proficiency in food service functions to include safe food service/ handling, sanitization functions in a school cafeteria small to medium sized kitchen and dining area facility.
• Possesses an understanding of own physical limitations, training/certification limitations, and ability to coordinate daily cafeteria operations.
• Must demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, customer service oriented.
• Must be organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, and conscientious of surroundings. 
• Must be willing to comply with safety guidelines and protocols as prescribed by OSHA, the Commonwealth of Virginia, and/or the Catholic Diocese of Richmond for food handling and cafeteria operations.
 

Preferred Skills and Experience: 
• Basic culinary/food handler certification
• Capable of establishing safe work practices and food handling procedures
• Follows guidelines in the monitoring, cleaning, and sanitization of cafeteria/dining area safety procedures required by OSHA, the Commonwealth of Virginia, and/or the Catholic Diocese of Richmond for food handling and cafeteria operations.
• Ensures the proper storage/disposal of food and/or supplies.
• Performs job activities in a timely and efficient manner
• Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect staff, students, equipment, materials, and facilities
• Adheres to food safety/handling/personal hygiene requirements

Salary: Hourly (20-25 hrs./week)
