
Sr. Mary Amata
Principal
Sister Mary Amata, O.P., is our principal. She grew up in a military family (Air Force) and has lived across the U.S. and in Germany. After graduating from the College of William and Mary, Sister entered the Dominican Sisters in Nashville, Tennessee. She has since taught at both the middle school and elementary school levels. Sister feels blessed to be serving at St. Mary Star of the Sea where she hopes to inspire in all a deeper love for Jesus.

Mrs. Mike Riley
Vice Principal
Michael Riley, seventh grade homeroom and middle school social studies teacher, received his B.S. in Elementary Education with a minor in history from Barton College in 1998. He is currently working on an M.S. in Educational Leadership at the College of William and Mary. He attended St. Mary’s as a child and was a teacher here from 1999-2003. His daughter and niece are also students here, marking the fourth generation of his family to attend St. Mary’s.

Mrs. Teri Smith
Administrative Assistant
Teri Smith, administrative assistant, attended Commonwealth Business College. She is a St. Mary's graduate, as are her two children, Ryan (class of 1997) and Kristin (class of 2001).

Mrs. Teresa Bunting
Business Manager
Teresa Bunting, Financial Manager, is a wife, mother of two, and "Nanie T" to one grandchild, Tyler.

Mrs. Barbara Wertman
Receptionist
Barbara Wertman, Secretary, holds an associate degree from TNCC in Early Childhood Development and a certificate from Kee Business College. She has two sons who are students at St. Mary's.

Mrs. Betty Gooch
Development Director
Betty Gooch, Development Director, is the former alumni officer at Christopher Newport University. She obtained school development training through CASE, the Council for Advancement.

Mrs. Kelly Bocwinski
Development Aide
Mrs. Kelly Bocwinski assists the development officer at St. Mary's. She is also the parent of a St. Mary student.

ASC Aide
Debbie Zacharias is our cafeteria manager. Her daughter is in 8th grade at St. Mary's.

Mr. Bob Doyle
Maintenance and Facilities
Robert Doyle, maintenance supervisor, has a wide background of experience in maintenance. He retired in 1996 after 23 years of honorable service in the United States Navy as a Chief Petty Officer. He has experience in basic plumbing, carpentry, electrical, painting, and other maintenance services. Mr. Doyle has also completed the 16-hour Asbestos Awareness course offered by OSHA through Metropolitan Laboratories.

Terri Finn is our instructional aide, providing assistance to students in test-taking, organizational skills, and particular academic subjects.
