Teri Smith, Office Manager/Admissions

My name is Teri Smith and I am the Office Manager. I handle a wide range of administrative responsibilities, including providing administrative support to our school principal and our teachers.  I most enjoy talking with students and their families, and I am always very excited to meet with new families and help them with the registration process.

Barbara Flores, Counselor

My name is Barbara Flores and I have been with Saint Mary Star of the Sea School for seven years. I am contracted through Catholic Charities of Eastern Virginia under the SAP (School Assistance Program) Program. As the SAP Counselor, I provide brief, solution focused sessions to help students resolve problems that may be hindering their ability to perform well in school, such as an argument with a peer or other relationship issues, a behavioral issue, or dealing with gossip or bullying.

My previous work experiences have been as a Case Worker for the Rhode Island Dept. of Human Services, Hampton- Newport News Community Service Board and Cumberland Hospital for Children and Adolescents in New Kent County. From each experience I learned that gratitude and kindness helps more than we can ever imagine.

I was born and raised in Newport News and attended Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic School. I graduated from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Holistic Counseling from Salve Regina University.

Margaret Jerasa, Receptionist

My name is Margaret Jerasa and I am the school receptionist. This is my fourth year working in the office, so I do a little bit of everything! I thoroughly enjoy meeting parents who stop by and interacting with the students. I am so blessed to have the opportunity to be a part of the Saint Mary's family. Both of my young children attend school here and are happy to be at school "where mommy works!"

Maritza Davila, Marketing & Recruitment

My name is Maritza Davila and I oversee the marketing and recruitment activities. I have been part of the Saint Mary's family for the last four years. I have thoroughly enjoyed promoting the excellent academic program that Saint Mary's offers to our community. I brought more than 12 years of experience working in the Public Relations Department at Thomas Nelson Community College. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Organizational Communication and a Master of Science degree in Corporate and Professional Communication.
