Mrs. Claudia Seely- Teacher Assistant, Pre-K4
My name is Claudia Seely, and I am excited to be the teacher assistant for the youngest children at Saint Mary Star of the Sea School. I love coming to school every day, seeing our students´ smiling faces and seeing how they learn and grow!
Before coming to Saint Mary´s, I worked as an interpreter for Spanish speaking families attending Hampton City Schools. I enjoyed my job as it brought me closer to the families and the children. I always wanted to be more involved in the education of the children, so at Saint Mary´s, I am having the opportunity to work closely with them, support classroom activities, and provide them with a fun and engaging learning environment.
I have a bachelor´s degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Commercial Business from Universidad del Norte in Barranquilla, Colombia and an Interpreter´s Certificate from Northern Virginia Area Health Education Center.
I am from the City of Barranquilla in Colombia. I have been living in the United States for 14 years. I am married and have two wonderful children who are currently attending Saint Mary Star of the Sea School!
Mrs. Law - Kindergarten
My name is Michelle Law and I have taught Kindergarten at Saint Mary Star of the Sea for the past 20 years. I wanted to be a teacher since I was in the first grade. All three of my sons graduated from Saint Mary's and the wonderful education provided to them at this school became my motivation to teach here.
While teaching in Georgia, I taught middle school students. At the beginning, I was hesitant to become a Kindergarten teacher, but after my first week in the classroom, I knew I would love it! The excitement and enthusiasm of God's little ones is both genuine and contagious! My love for teaching and caring for my Kindergarten students has not changed in the 18 years I have been teaching them. Kindergarten is a critical year for students and I feel blessed to be a teacher of children this age. They are awesome!
I hold a bachelor's degree and have taken many Master level courses. I also hold a Virginia Teaching License for grades Pre-K through 6th.
Mrs. Veronica Drew- 1st Grade
My name is Veronica Drew and this is my second year teaching first grade at Saint Mary Star of the Sea School. I am a Saint Mary´s alumn. Before becoming the first grade teacher, I substituted in the school for three years. I have a strong passion to educate young minds and help them blossom into well-rounded, responsible, and successful individuals. I bring a hands-on approach to learning to keep students interested and focused. I believe that I fit well with Saint Mary Star of the Sea School’s mission of uniting with families and community to provide a Christ-centered and educationally stimulating environment, where students recognize their God-given gifts and achieve their highest potential and to ensure a safe learning environment and opportunities for success for individual learners.
I am a Summa Cum Laude graduate from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. I hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies: Elementary Education (Pre-K - 6th grade). I am honored to be a part of the Saint Mary Star of the Sea School staff.
Sister Marie de Lourdes Dickert, O.P. - Second Grade
I grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Theology and Catechetics from Franciscan University of Steubenville prior to entering the Dominican Sisters of Saint Cecilia Congregation. I completed my Master of Arts in Teaching (K-6) at Aquinas College and taught Second Grade in Nashville, TN. I am very happy to be joining the St. Mary Star of the Sea community and especially looking forward to preparing my new Second Graders for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Communion.
